Finally!!! I’ve been admitted into the Sunday Salon…via Facebook that is—but I’ll take it!! So here goes my first official post:
I cannot believe that I’m sitting at the beginning of 2011 with my blog completely caught up. All my 2010 reading challenges have been reconciled. Some were completed and some were a failed venture. I think I took on more than I could chew…but then again, don’t we all in some fashion?
I also saw my blog undergo a name change this past year. I decided to change it from My Eclectic Reads to Fall In Love With Books. This was partly because Eclectic was commonly spelled as Electric by, ahem…more than a few folks. The blog still holds an eclectic smattering of titles. Not because I can’t make up my mind which genre I prefer, but rather because I prefer too many!! Excepting mysteries and crime, of course. I really, really don’t enjoy reading those books.
I started taking on more ARC’s for review last year. I’ve already learned to be particular and not saddle myself with material that I know I wouldn’t like. So far, it’s paid off and the last three ARC’s that I’ve read have been delightful books. One was The Heroine’s Bookshelf by Erin Blakemore—posted in December. The other two will get posted at the end of this month: The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern and Late for Tea at Deer Palace by Tamara Chalabi. Expect high praise to come from me in my posts!
2011 goals…do I have any? No, not really. Just to keep reading as much as I can and be consistent about posting. I do plan to start a little meme of my own this year called Tuesday Travels. It’s about posting a picture of a place you’ve visited in your latest read. What could be easier? I’m always dreaming about those settings…now it is time to share them with everyone else.
Finally, as far as my volume of reading: last year I read a total of 85 books (which is impressive for me)…this year, I probably won’t get to as many because I’ve taken the plunge and enrolled in graduate school. It’s something I’ve been mulling over for the past couple of years and have now determined that the time is right. So, expect a lot of homework and school related reading to take precedence over pleasure reading. I think what that really means is expect more meme postings from me for a while!! Maybe a readathon or two, but no promises…
So, that’s it for my first Sunday Salon. I know it turned out to be more about my reading/blog habits rather than what I’ve read lately…but I plan on addressing that next week.

Congrats on being apart of the Sunday Salon! I created my own meme since the Sunday Salon closed to new members, so here is my own version: Suddenly Sunday
ReplyDeleteGood job on being caught up and ready for 2011! I hope you have an excellent year :)
I hope you have a great year and congrats on Grad school. I've been thinking about going back but can't quite seem to make up my mind on it.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is called eclectic/eccentric, so I completely understand about the misspelling! Love your blog! I am over at eclectic/eccentric if you'd like to stop by.
