“Just when she thought she had life and love all figured out…
Divorce attorney Harper James can’t catch a break. Bad enough that she runs into her ex-hubby, Nick, at her sister’s destination wedding, but now, by a cruel twist of fate, she’s being forced to make a cross-country road trip with him. And her almost-fiancĂ© back at home is not likely to be sympathetic.
Harper can’t help that Nick has come blazing back into her life in all of his frustratingly appealing, gorgeous architect glory. But in Nick’s eyes, Harper has always been the one. If they can only get it right this time, forever might be waiting—just around the bend.”
My Thoughts:
Enter another home run from Kristan Higgins. She is now one of my favorite authors and I couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled across an advance review copy of her latest novel, My One and Only.
Without a doubt, Higgins has the pulse of the every day modern woman. Her contemporary romances give all of us exactly what we are looking for: honest women who just want to be happy, fuddle around trying to make themselves happy--until in walks a man who changes their life (and for the better, I might add). I’m not getting sexist here, because all Higgins’ heroines are independent women who don’t need a man, but they do need love in their life. After all, love is what we are all searching for, isn’t it?
Harper and Nick have a complicated life. She’s a runner…she’s run away from everything that causes pain in her life. She meets a great guy, Nick, way too earlier in her life and ends up running out on him. Ever faithful Nick hung in there for her…for the longest time. Fast forward to years down the road when the two are forced to meet up again when their siblings decide to marry one another and “presto” you have the makings of a lost love, found again situation.
Harper and Nick really are meant for each other. It’s apparent on every page that forces them into one another’s company. A road trip seals the deal, but only temporarily. A few more bumps along the way and these two wind up in each other’s arms forever.
I loved this story. It was so simple and pure. Higgins knows how to insert the right amount of humor and realism to make every woman capable of identifying with Harper and her struggles.
I not only recommend My One and Only, but I also recommend that you run out and find EVERY Kristan Higgins book you can lay your hands on. You won’t be disappointed!!
