Description Courtesy of Goodreads:
“Hugh Dunne, the Earl of Briarly, needs a wife—so his sister hands him a list of the very best young ladies on the market. And then, because he refuses to tear himself away from the stables where he trains Arabian racehorses, she invites all those ladies to a house party, along with some other bachelors, of course. So who will Hugh choose? The Botticelli-esque, enchanting Gwendolyn? The outspoken, delightful Katherine? If he doesn't work fast, he'll lose those ladies to his closest friends, and then where will he look for a wife? Perhaps, just perhaps, toward a lady who's not on a market at all, and would require a great deal of persuading...”
My Thoughts:
If a book has Julia Quinn’s name on it, I’m buying it – enough said. She is my favorite Regency author hands down. So, when I came across this gorgeous cover bearing her name, I was frozen in mid-step. Another treasure to hold on to! I knew I had a great read in store for me and after finishing the book, I was proven correct.
The Lady Most Likely features three authors collaborating on a single project. Quinn, James & Brockway have taken turns to give us a bountiful collection of Happily Ever Afters. I thought their transitions were smooth; although, the tone changes were fairly substantial. Each author brought their own sense of style to the table – first and foremost was Julia Quinn who captures the spirit of Regency humor like no other. She is formidable with her skills!! Not to shine the light too brightly in that direction, both Eloisa James and Connie Brockway carried the rest of the book seamlessly, with careful attention to details that kept the overall plot (all these relationships happen together in a short period of time, with characters overlapping each other in the segments) a huge success. The mixture of personalities is varied and you will have no problems finding someone to adore in short order!
This is a lighthearted book that follows the traditional Regency style perfectly. I would highly recommend it to all historical romance fans.
